Results are stratified by different lengths of stay, from a 20% sample of US fee-for-service Medicare enrollees from 1/1/16 to 12/31/18. The cohort is limited to admissions with a medical Diagnostic Related Group admission, with no Intensive Care Unit stay and excluding those receiving any care from generalist physicians twice in one day. Generalist physicians include general internal medicine, family medicine or geriatrics
