Inclusion criteria

Age ≥75 years

Initial troponin elevation occurs >24 hours after hospital admission

Diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction

Acute myocardial infarction secondary to inpatient procedure or surgery

- Serum troponin I or troponin T elevation above laboratory s upper limit of normal, and either (1) ischemic ECG findings, (2) anginal symptoms, (3) imaging evidence of new loss of viable myocardium or new regional wall motion abnormality; (4) identification of an intracoronary thrombus on angiographya

Transferred from another hospital with a length of stay >24 hours at the referring hospital

Incarcerated

Unable to provide informed consent with no proxy available
